a. Design and development of an evaporating cooling module for cooling of high-powered micro- and power electronics. 2. Development of novel metal/organic hybrid phase change material (PCM) for energy storage and electronics transient thermal loading.

3.Neural network ML modeling to predict the RF device performance and failure mechanisms.

a. This project involves physics informed neural network modeling of the electrothermal response of GaN RF devices. A combination of experimental data and hybrid data/modeling approaches will be used to tain the neural network for performance prediction of RF GaNHEMTdevices.PINNmodeling required use of theNVIDIASimNet toolkit to solve for electrical and thermal transport.

The appointment will be in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, full-time, for at least one year, renewable for a second year upon satisfactory performance. Remuneration will be competitive and based on qualifications.

The initial duration of this appointment is for a one year term with the potential for extension based on performance and availability of funding. This position is eligible to work remotely.

The position will be in the Albertus research group in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Maryland. Professor Albertus has extensive experience developing electrochemical models and simulating battery performance. Relevant publications are available at hisGoogle Scholar page.

TheGEDImission focuses on biomass estimation, biodiversity, habitat characterization, forest complexity, and prognostic ecosystem models, and is slated to resume operations in late 2024 for a minimum of three years. An important aspect of our current initiatives focuses on the integration ofGEDIdata with other Earth Observation (EO) data such as from passive optical/stereo and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technologies. The latter includes data from TanDEM-X,ALOS-2 and Sentinel-1 as well as the forthcomingNISARandBIOMASSmissions. Successful candidates will participate in diverse aspects ofGEDI-related science analyses and projects. This participation includes refining and validating science algorithms, post-flight calibration and validation, developing field observation databases, science data product development and the fusion of multi-sensor data. There is also the opportunity to utilize these remote sensing data in science investigations within the candidate’s areas of interest.

OurNASACMSprojects are focused on combiningGEDIand interferometricSAR(InSAR) data to map high-resolution biomass and its changes, in collaboration with partner institutions including the German Aerospace Center (DLR), alongside activities utilizing these data to drive ecosystem and diversity models. Our mature and old-growth forest work is in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service,NASAGoddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), and Harvard Forest. This research is developing methodologies for the assessment and monitoring of mature and old-growth forests using a comprehensive range of EO data, modeling, and in situ national forest inventory data. These projects have significant engagement with stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels.

A Post-Doctoral Associate position is available in the Liu lab at the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR) of the University of Maryland College Park in Rockville, MD. The research project focuses on the molecular understanding of chaperone-mediated protein folding and translocation using cryo-EM, biochemistry, and computational modeling.

The postdoc will carry out daily research tasks in the lab, including maintaining cell culture, protein expression, and purification, running biochemical/biophysical assays, protein structure determination with cryoEM, training undergraduate and graduate students, and writing research proposals and publications.

The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to conduct research and scholarship to (1) design tech tools that allow communities to identify and overcome access barriers in their transportation and food systems; (2) identify the processes that allow communities to conduct data-mediated conversations with key stakeholders to improve the quality of the transportation and food systems in their communities, and (3) evaluate the effect of the use of tech tools in improving access to and quality of transportation and food systems in their communities, while controlling for potential societal harms.
The postdoctoral researcher will also be able to co-mentor graduate and undergraduate students working in theNSF-funded research.

The salary is $80K per year, plus competitive benefits. The duration is one year with the possibility to extend to a second year.

The postdoctoral researcher will be located at the University of Maryland, a top public research university located outside Washington, D.C., in College Park, Maryland. The researcher will be able to interact with other postdocs at the Values-Centered AI Initiative (VCAI), Community Research, Equity, and Design Lab (CReED), and the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL). An important requirement of this position is that the postdoctoral student should be willing and able to visit communities in and around Baltimore City and Prince George’s County to carry out focus groups, interviews and meetings that will inform research.

CfME faculty are committed to furthering increased access and opportunities for historically marginalized populations in mathematics education. The successful Fellow will be appointed for a one-year 12-month term beginning July 1, 2025, with the expectation of renewal for a second one-year term contingent on review. The Fellow will receive a starting stipend of $67,000, health benefits, and $10,000 for research startup. In addition, the Fellow will have access to office space with computer, library access, and other privileges at the University. During the term of appointment, the Fellow will be expected to focus primarily on research. In addition, the Fellow will teach one course (one semester only) per year. Dr. Andrew Brantlinger will serve as the Fellow’s primary mentor with support from other CfME andTLPLfaculty. These faculty will meet with the Fellow regularly to provide guidance on developing a pedagogically sound teaching philosophy and plan, and improving the skills needed to pursue an academic research career, including proposal and manuscript writing, and technical presentation skills. The Fellow will also participate in professional development opportunities developed by the College of Education and the university’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of Faculty Affairs.
