Marius Borg Høiby was uninvited from a celebrity wedding after guests threatened to back out if he came, according to reports.

The 27-year-old, who is the stepson of the future King of Norway,is said to have deserted plans to attend the nuptials ofPrincess Martha Louise shaman Durek Verrett in favour of attending the wedding of a billionaire's son in Italy.

However, when guests discovered that Marius had travelled to Tuscany to attend the event, several threatened to pull out for fear of unwanted media attention, according to Se og Hør.

In a scandal that has rocked the country, Crown Prince Haakon's stepson Mariusissued a grovelling statement earlier this month, apologising forattacking Rebecca Helberg Arntsen, and citing his mental health diagnosis as a factor.

Despite the ongoing case, Marius arrived in Pisa on Wednesday, where Karianne Vilde Spetalen, 30, and Kristian Spetalen, also 30, will tie the knot in a ceremony filled with the Norwegian elite, with many some choosing to keep their lives out of the media.

While Marius - who admitted assaulting his 'girlfriend' while 'intoxicated with cocaine and alcohol' following his arrest earlier this month - is free to go abroad, his lawyer, Øyvind Bratli, informed the police of his travel plans to allow for transparency.

He currentlyfaces preliminary charges of bodily harm and criminal damage and could face up to a year in prison.

He intended to witness the nuptials of the son of a prominent Norwegian businessman and investor, Øystein Stray Spetalen.

However, some guests were not at all happy that the son ofCrown Princess Mette-Merit was intending to attend.

It is believed that guests thought Norwegian press would travel to Italy to document the wedding if Marius was present, a circ*mstance some did not feel comfortable with.

Sources told Se og Hør that Norwegian influencer Karianne and her soon-to-be analyst husband, Kristian, also faced backlash from their family regarding Marius's planned attendance.

Marius remains in Pisa with a friend and has yet to decide on his next move, according to the news outlet.

The Norwegian Palace yesterday confirmed that Marius would also not attend the nation's wedding of the year this weekend as Princess MarthaLouise and Durek Verrett tie the knot.

Self-proclaimed 'clairvoyant' Martha-Louise, 51, is marrying the celebrity shaman in Geiranger Fjord in western Norway, with the nuptialsbeing covered exclusively by Netflixand Hello! magazine.

Royal guests listed on the Palace's website includeKing Harald and Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus and Princess Astrid.

As Borg Høiby is not a working royal, it is not necessarily customary for the Palace to have included him in the list of royal attendees in the first place.

However, when contacted by FEMAIL, the Norwegian palace confirmed the embattled 27-year-old, who is Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son from a previous relationship, will not be present.

'I can confirm that Marius Borg Høiby is not attending the wedding,' a palace spokesperson said.

A statement about the royal guestlist on the website read: 'Parts of the family will also be present during the [pre-wedding] event in Ålesund on Thursday 29 August.

'The royal family is looking forward to being guests at Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett's wedding. The Royal Yacht Norge will be used as accommodation during the wedding.'

Mariusissued a statement earlier this month saying sorry for attacking Rebecca Helberg Arntsen, citing his mental health diagnosis.

Norwegian tabloidVGhas since published what it claimed were clips from two phone calls between the 27-year-old and his victim after the violent episode and vandalism in an apartment in Oslo on the night of August 4.

During the conversation, former motorcycle mechanic Borg Høiby reportedly defended his assault as a 'little pat on the back...hit you with a flat hand'.

But the woman allegedly replies that he hit her a hundred times and strangled her at least five times until she struggled to breathe, according to the Norwegian report after it was translated into English.

Borg Høiby also reportedly threatened to burn the victim's belongings in a bin if she didn't collect them from Skaugum Castle, his family's official residence, by a certain time.

Elsewhere in the calls, which were said to have taken place before Borg Høiby was arrested by the police at 4.10pm, the Prince's stepson allegedly mentioned a third person, claiming they are scared 'because I'm going to kill him'.

The individual isn't named by VG, but the publication does state that they are known to both Borg Høiby and his 'girlfriend'.

The audio is reportedly part of the police investigation against the 27-year-old, who was arrested and placed in police custody for 30 hours, according to local reports.

He has been accused of causing bodily harm and injuring a woman with whom he was having a relationship.

In the first conversation, Borg Høiby reportedly says loudly: 'Yes, you should. If not, I'll burn up all your stuff', after explaining that he wants the woman to collect her belongings from him.

When the victim asks why he would do this, he replies: 'Because you deserve all the s*** I can throw at you,' and refers to his girlfriend in derogatory terms, according to the publication.

'Your clothes are on fire at 4pm. 4pm. Everything you own is already in the space outside here. And I have a large can of petrol and a lighter in my hand. Do you hear that? You will be here at 4pm,' says Borg Høiby.

'Then I'll set fire to your things', he adds, after the woman - who has apparently lived in Skaugum Castle with Borg Høiby and his mother and stepfather during certain points in the past year - insists she will not go to the 27-year-old.

The two were in a relationship, according to VG, and Borg Høiby apologised to 'my girlfriend' in his statement on Wednesday. In July, Borg Høiby announced he was dating Rebecca Helberg Arntsen.

However since his statement, the victim's lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen told Dagbladet: 'The last time I spoke to my client they were not lovers.'

The Prince's stepson has already pleaded guilty and says he is ready to serve out whatever sentence is handed down, his lawyer Oyvind Bratlien told Norway's TV2 television.

But the scandal of the Norway Royal Family's 'black sheep' Borg Høiby's arrest has damaged some Norwegians' affection for their monarchy, MailOnline previously revealed.

Traditionally the people of Norway are even more fervent royalists than Brits, but we found that young people in particular were less forgiving of Borg Høiby's behaviour.

It comes afterPrincess Märtha Louise of Norway's big day was hit with even more dramaon her fiancé's side of the family.

The couple more recently became embroiled in a public row with Durek's estranged mother, 81. It prompted renewed calls from the public to the Norwegian Monarch to strip his daughter of her princess title.

Last month, the couple reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter to Durek's estranged 81-year-old mother and threatened legal action over her 'slander' and 'false statements'.

Durek explained on Instagram how the pair believe their decision is 'the only remaining option for change'.

He said his mother Veruschka Urquhart has 'repeatedly slandered our characters through false statements showing a significant lack of care and love towards Märtha, myself, and our respective families'.

In interviews with celebrity magazine Se og Hør, Veruschka has labelled her son 'dangerous', alleging that he had 'brainwashed' the princess and that their family was not as wealthy as Durek has tried to make out.

The publication claimed last month to be sharing the 'shock letter, word for word', in which Märtha has reportedly threatened her future mother-in-law with a multimillion-dollar lawsuit, if she does not retract what she has said.

The letter from 'Shaman Durek and Princess Martha Louise' allegedly reads: 'We are writing to order you to refrain from defaming, disparaging and making false and provocative statements about Shaman Durek.

'If you do not fully and loyally comply with this order, and choose not to deny your statements, Shaman Durek will use the civil remedies at his disposal against you to the extent possible under the law, including seeking damages of millions of dollars. To put it plainly, Shaman Durek will sue you.'

The princess's manager reportedly confirmed to newspaper VG that the letter was sent from the royal and her partner.

Following the reports, Durek took to Instagram to explain his reasoning, saying: 'I wanted to clarify Märtha Louise's and my recent decision to issue a cease-and-desist letter to my mother, Veruschka.

'VG's research earlier this year has uncovered Veruschka being in a paid contract with Se og Hør, and she has, because of this contract, repeatedly slandered our characters through false statements showing a significant lack of care and love towards Märtha, myself, and our respective families.

'The cease-and-desist letter directly addresses these issues and is a standard procedure in the United States when defamatory situations occur.

'Regrettably, we have found the cease-and-desist letter to be the only remaining option for change. We are sorry that it has come to this step. We see no other options.'

He continued in the post: 'Veruschka has been estranged from much of our family for a considerable period.'

In April, Martha Louise furiously hit back at her future mother-in-law's claims that Durek 'was not from a wealthy family'.

In a defiant Instagram post, the royal included comments from one of Durek's former classmates who insisted he was 'one of the richest kids' in their school.

Martha Louise's social media rant comes after her future mother-in-law Veruschka gave another interview to celebrity magazine Se og Hør - having previously labelled her son 'dangerous' and alleging that he had 'brainwashed' the royal.

In the bombshell interview, Veruschka commented on the family's finances and claimed they were not as wealthy as Durek - who previously told Vanity Fair that he had access to a private plane growing up - has tried to make out.

Accusing the publication of 'spreading lies', the royal wrote: 'This time they are repeating the lie that Durek was not from a wealthy family as a child [...], when the truth is that he grew up in a good neighbourhood, his mom left him at an early age and it was in reality his mom not having money, not him.'

Princess Martha Louise, who describes herself as 'spiritual' and claims to be a clairvoyant, spoke to the BBC in May 2023 after it was announced that she was stepping back from royal duties in November, admitting it had been a process filled with 'turmoil'.

The Norwegian royal discussed how her fiancé's controversial 'views' had contributed to how the public viewed her position in the royal family.

She said: 'The Norwegian people I guess... have decided it's best for me to step down because of his views about things.'

Durek was dropped by his publisher shortly after the couple announced their engagement in June 2022 over pseudoscientific claims he made in his book 'Spirit Hacking'. Among the claims were that children 'can get cancer from being unhappy'.

Durek has also claimed he once came back from the dead, recovering from a month-long coma, by letting his soul 'burn' and he has also spoken of having to undergo a kidney transplant from his sister as a child.

It is unclear why he needed the kidney or how he became wheelchair bound, as he has described. The illness which sent him into a coma is also undisclosed.
